LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – Young athletes across St. Mary’s County will have the chance to hit the hardwood this summer as registration for the Summer Youth Basketball League officially opens Monday, April 21, at 9 a.m.

Organized by St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks, the league is open to players in grades 3 through 8 and offers an action-packed season focused solely on gameplay—no practices required. Games will tip off in July at Esperanza Middle School, with two games scheduled each week to keep the competition lively and fast-paced.

Students entering 3rd, 4th and 5th grades will play on Mondays and Wednesdays, while 6th, 7th and 8th graders will compete on Tuesdays and Thursdays. League officials said the format is designed to maximize playing time and ensure participants stay active and engaged throughout the summer months.

Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged. Interested families can register and find more information about the league, as well as other summer sports leagues and camps, by visiting St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks Summer Programs.
