This past Saturday, June 6, the local American Red Cross held its annual Relay for Life . The program is the ACSโ€™ prime fundraiser each year and Saturdayโ€™s enthusiastic teams helped raise a lot of money while keeping in shape and enjoying the memories of loved ones that have or do suffer with cancer.

According to www.relayforlife.org โ€œRelay for Life is the American Cancer Societyโ€™s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.โ€

The event is usually comprised of a number of teams, in this case at Leonardtown High Schoolโ€™s track, who gather and take turns walking or running. Each team chooses a representative to be on the track at all times throughout the up to 24 hour fundraiser.

In Leonardtown, teams from all walks of life participated raising the awareness of cancer while enjoying the camaraderie or friends, family and colleagues.

TheBAYNET.com was there to record all the fun. Take a look at the slideshow accompanying this story to see who was working hard to help cure cancer.
