Report of Student Being Chased by Men with Guns Has School Placed on Lockdown

On Nov. 16, Charles County Sheriff’s officers charged a 10th grade Westlake High School student with filing a false report and disrupting school operations after she reported being chased into the school by three males who brandished a handgun.

Based upon the student’s initial report, officers placed the school on lock down, assessed the threat, and began a search of the school and outside grounds. After reviewing security footage, officers determined there was no evidence supporting any of the student’s allegations.

The student later admitted she had not been chased into the school.
