York, PA – The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (28-39) fell in the series finale against the York Revolution (39-28) 9-2 Sept. 14, finishing off the sweep for the Revolution.

The game got off to a promising start for the Blue Crabs, as they put up a run in the first inning to take an early lead. Edwin Garcia led off the game with a single, getting the leadoff man aboard for Nate Samson. Samson came through with a double, scoring Garcia from first to get on the board with a 1-0 lead.

The lead didnโ€™t last long, as the Revolution jumped on Eric Fornataro (0-7) in the first to put up six runs. Alonzo Harris singled to start the inning, stealing second before a wild pitch moved him up to third. Jared Mitchell reached first on a dropped third strike, before a single from Rubi Silva scored Harris to tie the game. Tevin Nash followed with a single to score Mitchell, before a double from Michael Burgess scored Silva and Nash. Two batters later, Travis Witherspoon picked up a two-out single to further extend the inning. After Witherspoon stole second, a double from Ryan Dent allowed him to add another run to the tally. Chase Simpson picked up an RBI single of his own, scoring Dent, before Fornataro finally got out of the inning by striking out Mitchell.

The scoring wasnโ€™t done in that inning, as the Revs added three more in the second. Silva started the inning with a single, before a walk to Nash behind him put two runners on. An error at shortstop loaded the bases, before Luis Cruz rolled into a 6-4-3 double play that allowed Silva to score. Witherspoon followed that with a triple to score Nash, before another double from Dent scored Witherspoon to give York an early 9-1 lead.

Logan Williamson (6-9) was strong on the mound for the Revs, allowing just two hits from the second through the fourth. The Blue Crabs did pick up another run in the fifth on back-to-back doubles from Brian Bistagne and Ryan Wiggins. The southpaw starter finish the day for the Revs allowing just six hits over two innings, leaving with a seven-run lead.

The Revolution bullpen took over from there, as they combined to work three perfect innings to finish the night. The 9-2 win brings Yorkโ€™s magic number down to one game to win the second half of the Freedom Division and clinch a playoff berth.

The Blue Crabs return to action Friday, September 15th to begin the final series of the regular season against the New Britain Bees. Southern Maryland will send RHP Craig Stem (2-2, 5.10) to the mound, looking to snap the three-game losing streak. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 P.M. on Friday at Regency Furniture Stadium.
