St. Maryโ€™s College of Maryland, along with the Chesapeake Orchestra and its Music Director Jeffrey Silberschlag, are proud to announce the program for the 15th Annual River Concert Series. The family-friendly orchestral series, which has become a traditional part of summer in St. Mary’s County, will again feature six Friday night concerts on the grounds of St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

This season’s concerts start on June 21 and will continue through July 26. Concerts will start at 7 p.m., with grounds opening at 5 p.m. Food and beverages, provided by local vendors, will be on location. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own refreshments.

The program includes the following:

June 21:ย “Night in Vienna,” featuring the music of Johann Strauss, Jr., Richard Rodgers, and Beethoven. Also performing is dynamic young cellist Julian Schwarz, who recently appeared as soloist with the Seattle Symphony.

June 28:ย Works by Prokofiev’s โ€œPeter and the Wolfโ€ will be highlighted, withย narratorย Sheryl-Marie Dunaway and the Ballet Caliente dancers. A fun work aboutย Tyrannosaurus Sue will also be performed, featuring Bryan Bourne as trombone soloist, and Zachary Silberschlag, trumpeter in Copland’s โ€œQuiet City.โ€

July 5:ย The River Series celebrates Independence Day with a program featuring music of the sea, โ€œ1812 Overture,โ€ plus Sousa and fireworks. The eveningโ€™s program also features soprano Jennifer Page.
