GLEN BURNIE, Md. – On November 7, 2024, at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of East Furnace Branch Road and Margate Drive in Glen Burnie for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a male lying in the roadway with apparent gunshot wounds. The male, 51-year-old Scott David Guhse of Glen Burnie, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Fire Department personnel. Also located at the scene was a 22-year-old male who reported he was a victim of an assault and was also the alleged shooter in the incident. The Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Homicide detectives and Evidence Collection Unit personnel arrived on scene where multiple items of evidence were collected at the crime scene, and witnesses were interviewed. Preliminary information in the investigation indicates the 22-year-old male was operating his motorcycle in the area of Route 10 and Furnace Branch Road when he noticed another vehicle tailgating him and driving erratically.
The driver of the other vehicle pulled up alongside him and shouted at him. The other vehicle then nearly collided with the motorcycle, causing him to pull off the roadway. Both vehicles came to a stop on East Furnace Branch Road, where the driver of the other vehicle reportedly charged towards the 22-year-old while brandishing a hammer. At that time, the 22-year-old withdrew a handgun and shot the driver.
The 22-year-old possesses a concealed handgun carry permit through Maryland.

What happened to some old fashioned just duking it out? Times are crazy. If your road rage is that bad, you probably shouldn’t be driving. The amount of mentally ill people walking around is insane.

Duking it out is for idiots. No one wants to fight with nothing to gain against a stranger.. and no one wants to be hit with a hammer. That idiot brought a hammer to a gun fight. i’m glad he’s gone. He could have killed that motorcyclist with his vehicle.
