LA PLATA, Md. — Rootbound Farms has opened its first brick-and-mortar shop in downtown La Plata, marking a new milestone for the front-yard farmstead long known to shoppers at the La Plata Farmers Market. The community is invited to join the celebration and share in the farm’s next chapter.
The grand-opening ribbon-cutting will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the new shop inside Therapeutic Bodyworks, 6 St. Mary’s Ave., Suite 103, La Plata, MD 20646.

Rootbound Farms offers much more than vegetables. What began as a front-yard regenerative garden has grown into a full line of all-natural, small-batch goods that regular market customers have come to rely on:
- Seasonal produce and fresh-cut herbs still grown on-site in the original raised beds
- Cold-process soaps in customer favorites such as lavender, peppermint, rosemary and unscented oatmeal
- Herbal salves, muscle rubs, bath soaks, teas and essential-oil blends crafted for everyday comfort and self-care
- Moisturizing lotions, lip balms and skin-care kits, all made in small batches with homegrown botanicals and responsibly sourced ingredients

For many longtime La Plata Farmers Market shoppers, Rootbound’s products have become part of their weekly routine — from stocking up on soaps to grabbing a bundle of fresh herbs. The new storefront now offers a place to browse year-round, ask questions about ingredients and discover new seasonal items without waiting for market days.

The grand-opening celebration will include light refreshments, product displays and raffles for two gift baskets as a thank-you to the community that has supported its growth.
