Rosella Lynn Edelen

Rosella Lynn Edelen, 68, of Hughesville, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Cheverly on September 19, 1957, Rosie was the cherished fifth daughter of late George and Sylvia Poole. Just two months before her passing, Rosie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer that quickly spread. Through it all, she faced her illness with strength, grace, and the love and support of her family beside her.

On April 27, 1984, she married the love of her life, Turner Ashby Edelen Jr., better known to all as “Skip,” and together they shared 42 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Rosie dedicated her life to caring for others as a homemaker and was truly the center of her family — a one-of-a-kind woman whose warmth, kindness, and unconditional love touched everyone who knew her.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: fishing, being outdoors, art, relaxing at the beach, and traveling with Skip and family to her favorite place, St. George Island, Florida, along with their cherished trips to the casino, where her family lovingly called her a glowing good-luck charm to all around her. Above all else, Rosie adored her family. She devoted the last eight years of her life to helping care for her precious granddaughter, Sailor McGuire, who brought endless joy and purpose to her days.

Rosie was the beloved mother of Ashley Edelen of Hughesville and a wonderful grandmother, known as “Grammie,” who never missed a game, performance, school event, or milestone — she was always there. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Turner Ashby Edelen of Bryantown; her sisters, Brenda Vargas of Waldorf, Diane Vanderwest of Sarasota, and Patty Edwards of Charlotte Hall; her brother-in-law, Darrin Edelen (Kelly) of Bryantown; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother; Sylvia Poole;  her mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Edelen, and her sister; Gizzelle Hutchinson.

Rosie’s faith and beliefs guided her throughout her life and remained a source of strength and comfort until the very end. She will be remembered for her loving heart, infectious smile, beautiful aura, and deep devotion to her family and those she loved.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, with prayers beginning at 7:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Rosie will be laid to rest following a graveside service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery after the chime of the 11:00 a.m. church bell.

Serving as pallbearers : Brother in law; Darrin Edelen, and nephews; Austin Edelen, Tony Cave, BJ Cave, Joe Cave and AJ Cave.

Rosie’s love, faith, strength, kindness, and beauty will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will never be forgotten.
