Chesapeake Beach, MD – Along with the colorful lights along the roadways bringing a glow to brighten the end-of-the-year darkness, a longtime bayside business is adding to the holiday feeling. On Sunday evening, Nov. 25, Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa held its Second annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the Rod ‘N’ Reel Restaurant’s Boardwalk Café.

Santa Claus arrived by boat, greeted grownups and children and then aided staff in getting the 35-foot tree lighted. Mark Giangiulio greeted attendees and enlisted Santa’s help in counting down the seconds prior to the initial lighting for the 2018 Holiday Season.

In addition to a visit from Santa, the Sunday night event included Christmas carolers, hot chocolate, cider and holiday cookies and candy plus an outdoor showing of Charlie Brown Christmas.

Upcoming events at Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa, and the Rod ‘N’ Reel include Tony Scott Friday, Dec. 14 from 8 to 11:30 p.m.; the John Luskey Christmas Party Friday, Dec. 21 from 8 to 11:30 p.m.; Johnny Seaton, Elvis Tribute, Friday, Dec. 28 from 8 to 11:30 p.m.; and the New Year’s Eve Party with the NoWhere Men, Dec. 31 starting at 9 p.m. and ending Jan. 1, 2019 at 1 p.m.
