
MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – A St. Mary’s County School bus veered off the road and crashed into a pole on Mechanicsville Road, near Harrow Hills Court, at approximately 8:18 a.m., on April 4, 2024.
Crews arrived and found bus, #227, single occupant, no students on board. The driver suffered minor injuries. EMS evaluated the patient at the scene. Road conditions were likely contributing factors, according to police.

The crash resulted in a pole replacement, prompting SMECO to be called to the scene for repairs. The incident led to power outages affecting approximately 1,125 customers in the surrounding area for about an hour.
