Council Honors Gifted Education Teachers

The Maryland State Advisory Council on Gifted Education recognized four Charles County teachers and two students in Annapolis on Feb. 20.
Three teachers were recognized for their work leading students through the process of developing inventions for the By Kids, For Kids inventive thinking competition.

Emily Staudmyer (Jenifer Elementary) invented School for Pencils, a receptacle for pencils mounted on the wall at the entrance of the classroomย for easy student access.

Recognized for writing language arts advanced lessons for the Voluntary State Curriculum.

Lynn Nathan (gifted resource teacher, Henson Middle School) collaborated with other teachers around the state to write curriculum ideas for advanced students. These ideas were related to advanced language arts opportunities for gifted students and have been posted on the MD K-12 Web site by Maryland State Department of Education.
