Lawn mowers and murals! Washing machines and art! Seems like things that really don‘t go together. But the Sears Hometown Store in the Wildewood Shopping Center in California is proving that wrong.

Store Manager Jessica Price is getting her AA degree in art at the College of Southern Maryland. She decided to brighten up the store office with a mural on the wall. This isn’t the first time that Price’s artwork has graced the walls of a business in the area. She also did the mural on display at Nicoletti’s.

Sears Hometown Store owner Andre Collins was so impressed with the mural when he saw it that he had it printed on the back of his business cards.  Collins was also so inspired with what Price had done that he decided to expand on the idea and get the community involved.

Now through May 31 the Sears Hometown Store is having an art contest. To enter all you have to do is submit a photo of original artwork with the theme: “Sears Hometown Store — friendly service and great products.” The depicted products must be carried in the store.

To enter submit a photo of your original artwork to searshometownsomdartcontest@gmail.com

The grand prize winners will receive a grill just in time for summer outdoor parties and have their art displayed in the store.

Voting for the contestants will be on the Sears Hometown Store Facebook page from June 1-7 and then the top 10 vote getters will go on to the second round of voting from June 8 to 13. The top 10 pieces will also be on display at the store during the final round of voting.

The Sears Hometown Store is located next to Belk in the Wildewood Shopping Center on Three Notch Road. For more information about the store you can call 301-866-0101.
