
HYATTSVILLE, Md. — A security guard has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting at a McDonald’s in Prince George’s County.
The shooting took place on March 1, 2025, around 8:25 p.m. at the restaurant in the 2300 block of University Boulevard. Officers responding to reports of gunfire discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside the establishment. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the victim as 45-year-old Ricardo Clemons Jr., who had no fixed address. Investigators said the suspect, 54-year-old Murwanashyaka Francois of Gaithersburg, was working as a security guard at the McDonald’s when an altercation erupted, leading to the shooting.
Francois has been charged with second-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime. He is being held without bond and remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for April 1, 2025.
Details surrounding the confrontation remain under investigation, and authorities have not disclosed what led to the altercation. Detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward.
