CHARLES COUNTY, Md. – We are pleased to announce that Sergeant Christopher Rumsey has been recognized as the Officer of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2024 at the Charles County Detention Center!
As the Security Maintenance Supervisor, Sgt. Rumsey’s proactive approach to facility maintenance has been truly exemplary. He has instilled in his unit the idea that the time spent on preventative maintenance now saves time and money in the future. His keen eye for identifying areas of concern and developing solutions before they escalate into larger problems has been invaluable.
Sgt. Rumsey has also played a crucial role in promptly addressing maintenance repair orders. When he had concerns about a plumbing issue, Sgt. Rumsey coordinated meetings with County Maintenance leadership, offered suggestions, participated in planning, and oversaw the work that led to a repair of the plumbing infrastructure.
It is clear that Sgt. Rumsey takes ownership, not only in his position but the facility as a whole. During this quarter, he worked with outside vendors to ensure all security cameras, door controls, and intercoms worked appropriately. Sgt. Rumsey does an excellent job with the numerous inventories that his job requires, completing them thoroughly and submitting them in a timely fashion.
In addition to his regular duties, Sgt. Rumsey has gone above and beyond by offering to work and fill in when a unit is short-staffed, demonstrating his dedication and commitment to the facility’s well-being.
