LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Leonardtown that left multiple people injured and temporarily shut down Point Lookout Road.
The collision occurred around 11:26 a.m. on March 3, 2026, at the intersection of Point Lookout Road and Budds Creek Road. Initial reports indicated one of the vehicles rolled over multiple times and at least one person was found lying on the ground following the crash.
First responders arrived and requested a medevac helicopter; however, Maryland State Police Trooper 7 was cancelled due to weather conditions.
Emergency medical personnel evaluated three individuals at the scene. Two patients were transported by ground to Washington Hospital Center for further treatment. One patient declined transport and signed a care refusal.
Budds Creek Road was shut down while crews worked to treat the injured and clear the scene.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.

Intersections are hard!… apparently. If only there were traffic laws that drivers had to follow.
