The National Weather Service (NWS) has announced a thunderstorm watch and tornado watch until midnight tonight for St. Mary’s County and nearly all Maryland counties.
There is a possibility of high winds and hail with the thunderstorm watch. Rain is expected to start before 8 p.m.
Warm front is moving through with a cold front following. The NWS says conditions are favorable for tornado formation and citizens should keep aware of threatening weather conditions and listen for updates.

Tonight: Periods of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8pm, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 5am. Some of the storms could be severe, with damaging winds. Low near 47. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 22 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 56. Breezy, with a northwest wind between 16 and 25 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 36. West wind between 7 and 11 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52. West wind around 11 mph.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 36. West wind around 11 mph.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low near 45.
Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high around 65.
