Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Southern Maryland

CALIFORNIA, Md. — The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Southern Maryland and surrounding regions through 9 p.m. Tuesday, warning of damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph.

Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties are included in the watch, which stretches across much of Maryland, D.C., northern Virginia, and parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Scattered storms are expected to develop throughout the afternoon and evening, bringing the potential for downed trees, power outages, and hazardous travel conditions.

Residents are urged to remain alert, secure outdoor items, and monitor local weather updates.
