
SEVERN, Md. — Two people were arrested after police recovered a loaded handgun with an obliterated serial number and multiple suspected controlled substances during a traffic stop in Anne Arundel County.
The stop occurred around 11:50 a.m. on Jan. 31, 2026, near Pioneer Drive and Severn Orchard Circle in Severn. An officer stopped a gray 2021 Ford Fusion and developed probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search, officers seized a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun with an altered serial number, about 6.87 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 1.33 grams of suspected heroin or fentanyl, and 1.29 grams of suspected amphetamine pills, charging documents state.
Police identified the driver as Nyzhea Emoni Shakur Green, 27, of Glen Burnie, and the passenger as Sean Lamont Cormier Jr., 34, of Pasadena.
Green was charged with multiple misdemeanor offenses, including possession of controlled dangerous substances other than cannabis, possession of paraphernalia, knowingly altering a firearm identification number, and having a handgun — including a loaded handgun — in a vehicle. She was released on her own recognizance.
Cormier was charged with offenses including having a handgun and loaded handgun in a vehicle, illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a regulated firearm, drug possession, possession of paraphernalia, and a felony charge alleging possession of a firearm in connection with a controlled dangerous substance offense. He is being held without bond.
Court records show Green is scheduled for trial April 1 in Annapolis. Cormier’s bond review hearing was held Feb. 2 in Annapolis, and he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 25.
