Mattawoman Creek
La Plata, MD – Due to heavy precipitation, and inflow and infiltration (I and I), and with almost 3 inches of rain in the area December 15-16, 2018 Charles County experienced an overflow of untreated wastewater of approximately 33,000 gallons from a manhole adjacent to Mattawoman Creek in the area of the Mattawoman Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The overflow was discovered at 9:06 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, and the Charles County Department of Public Works/Utilities stopped the overflow at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.
