LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A 27-year-old woman from Lexington Park is facing misdemeanor drug charges after deputies reportedly found a glass smoking device containing suspected crack cocaine residue during a disturbance response at a local motel.
According to court documents filed in St. Mary’s County District Court, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the A&E Motel on Great Mills Road around 9:45 p.m. on June 9 to investigate a reported disturbance involving the occupants of a room on the premises.
One of the individuals was identified as Dakota Lynn Ryan, whom deputies recognized from previous law enforcement encounters. A records check revealed an open arrest warrant for Ryan, who was taken into custody without incident.
During a search incident to arrest, deputies examined Ryan’s shoulder bag and reportedly discovered a glass smoking device with burnt white residue. Based on their training and experience, the responding deputy noted the device was consistent with those used to consume crack cocaine. The item was logged as evidence.
Ryan was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis and possession of CDS paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. She was released the following day on a $1,000 unsecured personal bond.
Court records indicate Ryan is scheduled to appear in District Court on July 15. If convicted, she faces up to one year in jail and a $5,000 fine for CDS possession, and up to one year and a $500 fine for paraphernalia possession.
