Leonardtown, MD — While you shouldn’t be driving while under the influence under any circumstance, the Maryland State Police, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, and Calvert County Sheriff’s office have sobriety checkpoints planned for this weekend to drive home the point.
Officers will have a checkpoint set up in Calvert County on Friday, August 16 and another in St. Mary’s County on Saturday, August 17.
The Maryland State Police reminds motorists to appoint a designated driver, call for a ride, or take public transportation if you plan to drink. There is zero-tolerance for driving while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs.
Police say that no excuses will be accepted and that the checkpoint is designed to educate the public and make communities a safe place to live, work and visit.
