SOLOMONS, Md. — A worker was injured Sunday night during the Solomons Island fireworks show and had to be brought from a fireworks barge to shore for emergency medical care.
The incident was reported at approximately 8:52 p.m. on July 5, 2026, during the fireworks display in Solomons.
Emergency information indicated a 60-year-old man working on the barge suffered injuries that required immediate medical attention.
The patient was taken by boat to the Solomons Boat Ramp, where EMS crews were waiting.
While evaluating the patient, medics requested advanced life support and a medevac helicopter because of the nature of the injuries. The patient was ultimately transported by ground to UM Capital Region Medical Center.
A family member reported the man was struck by a mortar in the neck and ear.
Additional details, including the man’s condition, were not immediately available.
