HOLLYWOOD, Md. Historic Sotterley is putting out a last-minute call for volunteers to join the “Tater Task Force” this Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to noon as part of its Growing for Good initiative. Organizers hope to rally enough community members to complete several key tasks and keep the season moving forward.

According to information on the event’s SignUpGenius page, the event may need to be canceled if not enough volunteers register in time.

Volunteers will be asked to help with two essential jobs:

  • Sorting and bagging produce for donation to local food pantries and soup kitchens.
  • Cutting potatoes in preparation for planting as part of this season’s farming efforts.

These tasks support Sotterley’s Growing for Good program, which donates fresh, sustainably grown produce to help address food insecurity in the tri-county area of Southern Maryland.

Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves if available. The work will take place in the Maintenance Shop, which is heated, handicapped accessible, and includes a restroom.

Those who have already signed up do not need to register again. New volunteers can sign up here, and any questions can be directed to Kim Husick at officemanager@sotterley.org.
