On July 20th the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy graduated six Calvert County Sheriff’s Office new deputies. They have filled positions vacated by retired or former deputies.
Four of these deputies are Calvert County natives who attended Calvert County public schools. Deputy Jereme Brown attended Calvert High School, Deputy Lindsay Wood attended Northern High School, Deputy Thomas Buckler and Deputy Brittany Schaefer both attended Huntingtown High School. The final two deputies are Deputy William Beisel and Deputy Jarod Cutchin.
Deputy Buckler is a second generation Calvert County Deputy. His father is retired Lieutenant Tommy Buckler. Deputy Jereme Brown and Deputy Brittany Schaefer are also second generation law enforcement officers.
Deputy Wood was presented with two outstanding awards, receiving the fitness award as well as the Steve Allen award for the best all-around police recruit.
All of these deputies are a fine addition to the sheriff’s office.
