At 5:30 pm, on Sunday, February 11, Tpr Shughart observed a gray Chevrolet Malibu exceeding the posted speed limit on Rt. 235 north of Rt. 245 in Hollywood.
When contact was made with the driver, George Derrick Gross, 36, of Lexington Park, a strong odor of marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Gross was arrested for possession of marijuana and a deadly weapon, a homemade bat.
He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
