Cornsville was not your average town.
It was a very small town only about 5 square miles big. The town is made up of mostly farmers and retailers because the main income of the town was a huge field of corn. The town was the main supplier of corn for the east coast and the townspeople were proud of that.
The town would get together twice a year and have a parade for the planting of the seeds and the fall harvest. This was tradition for most of the town except for a group of teens that felt corn and corn related activities were boring and would rather be doing something non-corn related. These kids weren’t bad kids; they would just rather be doing something else.
The problem is there was nothing else to do in this small town especially when the parades were going on. The entire town would shut down for these events making participation a must. This group of kids consisted of 5 people, 3 boys, 2 girls. The two girls, Shannon and Becky, were sisters and complete opposites. Shannon liked to stay home, read and help out around the house while Becky like to be out drinking and partying with the boys. But Becky was the older sister so Shannon would tag along with her often which didn’t really bother Becky. The guys consisted of Brian, Logan, and Jason. Brian was dating Becky. They were a good match. Brian also liked drinking and partying, but he was the sheriff’s son.
He would pull pranks on the town all the time because he could do it and get away with it. Nothing major or destructive, just fun stuff like streak through the town, or toilet paper all of the trees in town. That is why Becky was drawn to him. Logan was the nerd of the group and Brian’s conscience. He would try to talk Brian out of his pranks but he would always end up being a part of them. Then there is Jason. Jason mostly kept to himself, but his distain for the parades and corn related activities is what brought him to this group. He was the straggler and never had much input on the day’s activities.
As the town prepared for today’s celebration through the streets of Cornsville, the group of teens got together to see what type of mischief they could get themselves into. As Shannon, Becky, Brian, and Jason talked, Logan began to read through an urban legend book that he had brought because he enjoyed reading in his spare time being the nerd that he is. Midway through the book, Logan found a legend which drew his attention.
Logan grabbed his backpack and ran towards the others with the book open. Shannon, who could not stand Logan at times, only wondered what Logan was about to present. “Look guys” Logan said, “There is a legend about Cornsville that particularly describes our famous corn field”. This instantly gained the interested of the other four friends.
Many years ago, a group of settlers founded Cornsville and with a high demand of corn, they decided to construct a corn field. Instead of doing the planting themselves, the settlers forced the children to plant and harvest the corn field. Legend has it that during the harvest, one of the children disappeared and was never heard from again. The settlers spent days looking for the missing child but found no traces of where she went or what may have happened to her. To this day, one part of the corn field has never been harvested which is located 2 square miles in the back of the town. This part of the corn field has never been discussed amongst the town’s folk.
