St. Mary’s College Men’s Basketball Dominant Over Gallaudet

ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s basketball team rolled to their second straight victory Wednesday night (Feb. 7). St. Mary’s College (13-10, 8-2 UEC) completed the league series sweep of Gallaudet University (3-20, 2-8 UEC) with an 85-33 decision in United East Conference action.

How It Happened

  • The Seahawks jumped out to an 8-0 lead before Gallaudet connected on its first field goal of the game – a two-point jumper by Alex Antsiferov at 15:02.
  • The Bison’s second field goal of the game at 11:13 as Kyle Florio hit a three-pointer to make it a 13-5 contest.
  • SMCM then went on a 17-0 run as the St. Mary’s College defense forced five turnovers and Gallaudet missed its next 14 shots, including six three-point attempts, over the next eight minutes.
  • The Seahawks headed into the break with a 37-6 advantage.
  • St. Mary’s College doubled up on the Bison in the second half, outscoring the visitors, 48-24, over the final 20 minutes of the game as SMCM shot over 56-percent from the floor.

  • The Seahawks finished the game shooting a season second-best 51.6-percent (32-62) while posting a 50-34 rebounding margin after hauling in a season third-best 50 boards.
