LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — Meet Mamacita, a senior girl with a big heart who needs a second chance.
Mamacita is a black-and-white terrier/pit bull mix. She is spayed and is available for adoption at St. Mary’s County Animal Services, located at 22975 Franklin Delano Roosevelt Blvd., Lexington Park. Adoption hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 12-6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12-4 p.m.
According to shelter staff, Mamacita’s owners were taken by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). After loving her family for her whole life, she’s now faced with the reality of never seeing them again.
At 9 years, 7 months old, Mamacita still has plenty of love to give. She is sweet, walks well on a leash, loves to lounge around the house, and does well with other dogs. The shelter staff doesn’t know everything about her past but believe she lived with other dogs, some of whom may have been from past litters. She was also an indoor/outdoor dog, so staff is unsure if she’s fully housebroken or crate trained.
“She may be older and a little lumpy, but she is the best little hippo,” a shelter staff member wrote to The BayNet in an email.
