DOMESTIC ASSAULT – On November 6, 2014, Deputy Beasley responded to a residence on Maple Road in Lexington Park, for a reported assault. The victim reported suspect Joseph Wade Barnes, 50, of Lexington Park, contacted the victim in violation of an active Peace Order. Barnes followed the victim demanding tools he alleged belonged to him be returned. During the dispute over the tools, Barnes pushed the victim with his hands and took tools from the victim’s vehicle. Barnes was subsequently located and placed under arrest. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with 2nd Degree Assault, Theft Under $100, and Peace Order Violation.

ASSAULT ON POLICE – On November 9, 2014, deputies responded to a residence on Hummingbird Court in Mechanicsville, for a disturbance. On arrival, they encountered suspect Scott Edward Massey, 33, of Mechanicsville, who appeared to be intoxicated and was attempting to make entry into the residence. While deputies investigated the incident, Massey repeatedly yelled loudly at the deputies on the scene. He then took an aggressive stance and grabbed Corporal Harris around the shoulders. Corporal Harris broke free from Massey. After a short struggle, Massey was placed under arrest. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County detention Center and charged with 2nd Degree Assault and Failure to Obey a Lawful Order.
