The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a call for a suspicious incident in the Country Lakes subdivision. On July 27, 2017, at approximately 1:40 p.m., deputies responded to a call for a suspicious person in the area of Tanyard Drive. The investigation revealed the witness was walking in the area of Tanyard Drive when a female (described as being in her late thirties) approached the witness and asked to use the witness’s cell phone claiming it was an emergency. The witness offered to call 9-1-1 for the female but did not allow her to use the cell phone which prompted the woman to leave the area.

Deputies completed an extensive check of the area. The incident is isolated; there have been no additional reports, and there were no indications of an emergency during the witness’s contact with the suspicious female.
