A St. Maryโ€™s County Public Schools (SMCPS) teacher has received an award from an organization that promotes Gifted and Talented education. Linda Ronniger received the Outstanding Educator in Gifted and Talented Education โ€œTeacher as Leaderโ€ Award from the Maryland State Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education. Ronniger is an instructional resource teacher at Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary School.

The St. Maryโ€™s County Board of Education presented a certificate to Ronniger at their March 26 meeting. Ronniger was introduced to the board by Supervisor of Instruction for Interdisciplinary Programs Jessica Cotugno.

The award, according to Cotugno, is presented to teachers who โ€œare pursuing ongoing professional development in the field of gifted education, and who demonstrate peer leadership in gifted education.โ€

Ronniger received her award at a ceremony on February 27 in Glen Burnie.
