Towson, MD – Towson University was the site of the US Bands Maryland State Finals this year as 46 schools flocked there for the day. Eight schools from the across the tri-county area competed in their respective classes.

To start the day, La Plata won the championship in Class 1A with a score of 88.275. They beat the next closest band, Elkton, by over 4 points. Next up for the area was Leonardtown, who competed in the 3A class. Leonardtown finished in 12th in their class with a score of 81.7.

The 2A bands came onto the field following an intermission, and local schools showed out in this class. McDonough finished in 8th with a score of 83.225. Calvert came in 7th as they finished with a score of 84.988.

The next five spots were awarded to out of conference schools, but capped off with Patuxent winning their second state championship in three years with a 90.788. They beat Annapolis Area Christian by one point.

Lastly, in group 2 open, Great Mills finished in 5th with an 84.975. Northern came in 4th place with an 88.45. To round out local schools, Chopticon finished in 2nd with a 89.263 score.

La Plata’s show was based of Styx. Patuxent’ show was based on Medusa.
