Statement by U.S. Senator Ben Cardin on the 11th Anniversary of 9/11
U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) issued the following statement today on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on our nation:
โCongress has designated September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance in honor of the brave Americans who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in a once deserted field in Pennsylvania.ย It was on that day that 3,000 Americans died at the hands of terrorists whose mission was to destroy our country.ย The Americans who perished on 9/11 were the first casualties of our nation’s fight against terrorism.
โWhile we suffered a grievous loss that day, we must never forget that we are a strong and determined nation — a nation that will defeat those who want to harm us.ย Today, as we remember those who died on 9/11, we join together to show the world that our nation is strong, united and resolved to defend our freedom and safeguard our liberty against any enemy.
โToday, we also take time to remember the heroism of the firefighters, police officers, medical workers and other first responders who died in the line of duty trying to save others.ย We also join together in a special prayer for the men and women in our Armed Forces who work every day to protect us from harm.ย Our nation is truly fortunate for their dedication to our countryโs ideals of democracy and freedom.โ
Statement From Lt. Governor Brown On The 11th Anniversary Of The September 11th Attacks
Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown issued the following statement today on the 11th Anniversary of the September 11th attacks:
โ11 years ago, all of us watched in horror as our country was attacked and thousands of innocent men, women, and children lost their lives. Each and every day, families continue to mourn for husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters who will never return. As we remember those who were lost, we also give thanks to those who bravely chose to risk โ and give โ their lives so that others might live. Countless police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and ordinary citizens put the safety of others before their own, and we will never forget their heroism.
โIn the months and years following 9/11, thousands of U.S. servicemen and women have paid the ultimate price while defending Americaโs freedoms abroad, and many more have returned to our shores wounded and in need of care. Today, we must renew our vow to never forget their sacrifice, and commit to giving Americaโs veterans the care and service theyโve earned.
