Laurel, MD— Shortly after 9 p.m. on December 13, 2016, Maryland State Police, College Park Barrack received a phone call advising there was a disabled vehicle in the roadway on northbound I-95 near Route 200. As Troopers were responding, there was a four vehicle collision as a result of the disabled vehicle.
Preliminary investigation revealed a black Honda Pilot was disabled in the roadway.ย A dark blue Dodge Caravan was approaching the Honda and a tractor-trailer struck the rear of the Dodge. A white Volkswagen passenger vehicle was subsequently struck as a result of the initial collision.
The driver of the Dodge was identified as Tamara Moskowitz, 45, Baltimore, MD was transported to Medstar in Washington, D.C. with life threating injuries. A 13-year-old male child was a passenger in the Dodge and was flown to Childrenโs Hospital by Maryland State Police Aviation where he succumbed to his injuries.The driver of the Honda was identified as Maria Chryssos, 58, Corpus Christi, Texas and passenger was Anastacia Chryssos, 35, Perry Hall, MD were both transported to Prince Georgeโs Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries.ย The driver of the Volkswagen was identified as Linda Perline,ย 53, Glenwood, MD and was not injured in the collision.
Maryland State Police, Crash Team along with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is investigating the collision.ย There was no indication of impairment at the time of this investigation. Northbound I-95 was closed for approximately five hours during the investigation. State Highway Administration handled the lane closures.
