Prince Frederick, MD – Calvert County Government and the Calvert County Health Department remind residents that staying home and avoiding contact with anyone who is not a member of your household is vitally important to Calvert County’s ability to slow the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“These last few weeks have been challenging and we know it will be even more difficult to stay apart during important religious holidays like Easter and Passover, that are traditionally observed together as families and faith communities,” said Board of County Commissioners President Kelly McConkey. “But it is critical for residents to stay home and avoid hosting or attending gatherings to prevent the coronavirus from suddenly spreading further throughout our community.”
The COVID-19 virus is highly contagious and each face-to-face interaction is an opportunity for it to spread. Although older adults and anyone with chronic health conditions are at risk of more serious complications, people of any age and degree of health are at risk of becoming infected and spreading the virus.
Residents are urged to stay informed as the situation is changing rapidly. The county government continues to share the latest updates surrounding Calvert County’s response to COVID-19, including resources, guidance and closures, through a virtual resource center at www.CalvertCountyMd.gov/Coronavirus. Additionally, the Calvert County Health Department has launched www.CalvertCountyCOVID19.com to help residents keep up with important health information and guidance from reliable sources.
