ST. LEONARD, Md. — Organizers of the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot are inviting community members to “strut their stuffing” at a 5K at Jefferson Patterson Park, starting at 7 a.m. on Nov. 27. This fun, family-friendly event benefits Project ECHO and Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum.
Project ECHO has been involved in the race since 2012 and hopes more people will make this their Thanksgiving tradition, too. The organization provides emergency shelter and supportive housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Calvert County, while the Friends of Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum support educational programming and free events such as Children’s Day on the Farm.
All entrants will receive a custom long-sleeve race shirt, a custom finisher medal, and real-time results. The cost to register for ages 13 and up is $45 through Nov. 26. The cost to register on race day is $50. Kids ages 4–12 are $25 to register, regardless of the registration date, and kids ages 0–3 are free.
Jefferson Patterson Park wrote on its Facebook page on Nov. 13 that the race was 80% full and encouraged interested participants to register as soon as possible. Registration will remain open until the race is filled — so don’t assume there will be spots on race day.
Jefferson Patterson Park is located at 10515 Mackall Road in St. Leonard and is made up of 560 scenic acres along the Patuxent River in Calvert County. The race map will be released the week of the race.
Anyone interested in participating can register online.
