Donte C. Curtis

Callaway, MDโ€”On April 22, St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office Deputy Joseph Somerville responded to Canvas Back Drive in Callaway for a disturbance involving three males.

When Smith arrived on the scene, he made contact with Cpl. Adams of the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office.

Contact was made with one of the males who was in a parked car. The front right seat passenger was identified as Donte C. Curtis, 37 of Baltimore. Curtis asked Adams if he wanted him to exit the vehicle, to which Adams replied yes.

Curtis walked in front of the vehicle to approach Adams attempting to explain his participation in the disturbance at Canvas Back Drive. According to charging documents, โ€œAdams advised he observed a large item bulging from Curtis’ front left pocket as he approached him.โ€

Adams asked Curtis to turn around he observed a large bag of marijuana in plain view, โ€œsticking out of the defendantโ€™s front left pocket,โ€ according to charging documents. Adams placed Curtis in handcuffs; Adams also removed four large bags of marijuana, a 500 digital scale, two cell phones and a five dollar bill from Curtis’ front left the pocket.

A check through the computer revealed that Curtis had three outstanding warrants. Curtis was transported to the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office, where he was charged with two counts of CDS possession of marijuana and CDS possession of paraphernalia.

At, this time, Curtis does not have a scheduled court date. Curtis faces a maximum jail sentence of two years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500.
