Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the intersection of Billingsley Road and Route 925 in Waldorf for the report of a motor vehicle crash at 1 a.m. March 11.
Investigation revealed a 17-year-old Hughesville boy failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and crossed the road, a concrete median and a curb before coming to rest in a lawn.
Further investigation revealed the teen only had a learner’s permit and had stolen the vehicle from his parents while they were asleep. He was uninjured.
He was charged with motor vehicle theft, driving without a license, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, failing to obey a stop sign and other traffic violations and was released to his parents.
