SOUTHERN MARYLANDTGI Fridays is stepping up to help federal aviation workers affected by the government shutdown. From Thursday, Oct. 9, through Wednesday, Oct. 23, the restaurant chain will offer one free meal per day to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and air traffic control employees who show valid ID.

The deal is available at more than 80 TGI Fridays locations nationwide — including several in the Southern Maryland and Washington, D.C., area — and will continue until the shutdown ends or Oct. 23, whichever comes first.

Eligible workers can choose from a special menu featuring TGI Fridays favorites such as a cheeseburger with fries, chicken fingers, grilled or crispy chicken sandwiches, and a chicken Caesar salad. Dine-in is available at most restaurants, while airport locations will offer the meals to-go.

“TSA and air traffic control workers keep our country moving, and we wanted to do our part to support them. Whether they’re grabbing a meal at one of our airport locations during a shift or sitting down at a neighborhood Fridays® after a long day, we want them to know we appreciate them and we’re here for them,” said Ray Blanchette, CEO of TGI Fridays®. “At TGI Fridays®, we believe that nothing should stop people from being able to dine, connect, and celebrate — especially those who show up to serve our communities every single day.”

Supporting Workers Who Keep Travelers Moving

TGI Fridays CEO Ray Blanchette said the company wanted to thank those who keep airports running safely even during a shutdown. The initiative extends to both traditional and airport-based Fridays restaurants nationwide, though Atlanta airport locations are running a separate program.

Meals will be available all day, every day throughout the two-week offer period, while supplies last.
