CALVERT COUNTY

Annual Plant Sale: In-person onlyon May 4 (8 am to 12 pm), located at Calvert County Master Gardeners, University of Maryland Extension, Calvert County Community Resource Bldg, 30 Duke St, Prince Frederick, MD – Help support Calvert County Master Gardener education outreach programs ( Garden Smarter Lecture & Workshop Series, Bay-Wise yard visits, Demo Gardens and more ) by participating in our Annual Plant Sale. Purchase from our large selection of flowering perennials, annuals, native (shrubs, trees, perennials) herbs and vegetable plants. Including baked goods and beverages are for sale. In-person only at the CRB (Calvert County Community Resource Bldg) parking lot.

CHARLES COUNTY

30th Annual Juried Multi-Media Art Show on select dates happening now through May 26 (11 am to 4 pm), located at Mattawoman Creek Art Center, 5565 Upham Pl. in Smallwood State Park, Marbury, MD – Celebrate spring at Mattawoman Creek Art Center in beautiful Smallwood State Park. This waterside gallery is hosting its 30th annual juried art show where regional artists – displaying a variety of media, styles, and subject matter – will compete for awards. Park entry fees are waived for gallery visitors. Show runs 11-4 on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from April 26 – May 26. The opening reception will be held on Sunday, May 5 from 1-4 PM. Come then to meet many of the artists!

Charles County Summerfest on May 3 (6 pm to 9 pm), located at The Shops at Waldorf, 3003 Festival Way Parking Area Near Crain Hwy, Waldorf, MD – FREE COMMUNITY EVENT, TICKETS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ATTEND!!! The Charles County Summer Fest is back for 2024! There will be Live Music, Vendors, Food Trucks and MORE, so bring your chairs and relax to some great local performers! A Raisin in the Sun on May 3 through May 5 (8 pm), located at Port Tobacco Players, 508 Charles St, La Plata, MD – A play about a proud Black family struggling through poverty in rundown two-bedroom apartment on the South Side of Chicago.

Grand Opening Weekend on May 4 (12 pm to 8 pm), located at Paint N Sip, inside St. Charles Mall, 11110 Mall Circle, Waldorf, MD – Get ready to celebrate the grand opening of our new space with a weekend full of fun, music, and surprises! ST. MARY’S COUNTY

29th Annual 2024 Southern Maryland Spring FestivalMay 2 through May 5, located at St. Mary’s County Fairground, 42455 Fairgrounds Rd, Leonardtown, MD – For over twenty-five years, the Southern Maryland Spring Festival has enjoyed bringing the local community together for a weekend of family fun with carnival rides, entertainment, food, yard sale, artists, crafters, kid’s games and much more! This fun-filled, family-oriented event is a popular local event for the community and the festival showcases many of our local talents and businesses. Holy Face Church in Great Mills, Maryland is the proud sponsor of the Southern Maryland Spring Festival.

Historic Sotterley Tour Season Opening Weekendon May 2 (10 am to 4 pm), May 3 (10 am to 4 pm), May 4 (10 am to 4 pm), and May 5 (11:30 am to 4 pm), located at Historic Sotterley, 44300 Sotterley Ln, Hollywood, MD – Historic Sotterley’s Tour Season officially begins on Thursday, May 2nd! Guided tours of our Historic Manor House will be offered Thursday through Saturday at 10:30, 11:30, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 and on Sunday at Noon, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00. Puzzlemania! Jigsaw Puzzle Competition And Community Puzzle Swap on May 4 (10 am), located at Leonardtown Library, 23630 Hayden Farm Lane, Leonardtown, MD – A jigsaw puzzle bonanza! Team puzzle competition for prizes as well as leisure puzzler activities including a puzzle swap event. All puzzlers welcome! All teams will go head-to-head to see who can complete their copy of a 500 piece puzzle the fastest. Prizes awarded. Teams are made up of 2-3 people, ages 16+, and registration is required for the team event. Register today to reserve a spot for your team! Only one team member should register for the team. Don’t want the pressure of a timed puzzle? We’ve got something for you too! We’ll be having a puzzle swap, so bring any puzzles you’re ready to part with and pick up a new one here.  (Please make sure any puzzle you bring to swap has all the pieces.) COSMIC Symphony’s concert titled Sounds of the Screen on May 4 and May 11 (3 pm to 5 pm), located at Nancy R. and Norton T. Dodge Performing Arts Center, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, 47855 College Drive, St. Mary’s City, MD – COSMIC Symphony’s concert titled Sounds of the Screen will feature International Vocalist Lisa Harmon and the music heard across your favorite films, including Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, James Bond, Titanic, and more.
