HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — Do you love trucks? This Saturday, Nov. 8, you can head over to The Calverton School at 300 Calverton School Road in Huntingtown from 10 a.m. to noon for a Touch a Truck event that supports a good cause.
The event has free admission, but asks that attendees bring canned food donations to help support The Community Harvest Network, formerly known as End Hunger in Calvert County. The event will host over 27 vehicles and feature special guest, The Chesapeake Ghostbusters, a local nonprofit that brings the fun and fandom of “Ghostbusters” to the community, as well as numerous other sponsors.
In addition to the trucks, you’ll be able to enjoy food and treats from Judy’s Express, Chesapeake Crabs, The Novel Bakery, Mission BBQ and Kona Ice.
The Community Harvest Network is an organization in the county that works to reduce food insecurity one family at a time. In February, the organization announced that going forward they’d be operating as Community Harvest Network, and will continue their work building community partnerships and strengthening resources for families in need.
The Community Harvest Network hosts several events throughout the year and works closely with community partners. The organization is best known for their annual dragon boat festivals, which is a major event in the county and acts as a fundraiser. They also hosted a biking event earlier this year.
Learn more about Touch a Truck or check out the event this weekend. Bring your enthusiasm and, of course, a canned item.
