Town Of Chesapeake Beach Unveils Updated Timeline For Water Park Project, Now Targeting 2027

CHESAPEAKE BEACH, Md. – The Town of Chesapeake Beach is continuing its work to deliver a fully modernized and reimagined water park experience for our residents and visitors. While our initial target was a 2026 reopening, we are now aiming for a grand reopening in 2027 – ensuring we have the time and resources needed to do the job right and create a facility that will serve the community for decades to come.

We are currently working closely with the original designer and builder of the park to finalize a design plan that preserves the spirit of the original attraction while meeting today’s standards for safety, accessibility, and long-term sustainability. This includes ongoing discussions about construction timelines, permitting requirements, and funding strategies.

“This project is about more than reopening a water park – it’s about building a long-lasting amenity that reflects the priorities and desires of our community supported by surveys and election results,” said Council Member Jonathan Evans, Water Park Committee Chair. “We are making thoughtful, strategic decisions that will serve Chesapeake Beach well into the future.”

Why 2027?

While we had hoped to reopen sooner, this timeline reflects the realities of a project of this scale. Design adjustments, regulatory considerations and the need for responsible financial planning all play a role. By setting our sights on 2027, we are ensuring the project stays on stable footing and delivers maximum value to the Town and its residents.

Our Commitment

This project has received strong community support in recent surveys and elections, and we remain committed to honoring that vision. The redesigned water park will include:

  • Modern amenities and water features
  • Upgraded infrastructure for safety and efficiency
  • Designs that support long-term maintenance and reduced environmental impact

We deeply appreciate the public’s continued patience and engagement throughout this process. Final decisions on project funding will be made by the full Town Council, ensuring that this major investment reflects both community priorities and fiscal responsibility. The extensive planning positions the Town to move forward efficiently once those approvals are in place. The Water Park discussion and presentation will be on the agenda for the September 9, 2025, Town Council work session and members of the public are encouraged to submit public comments or questions ahead of that meeting.  The Town will continue to provide regular updates as we move forward.

  1. Turn it into a regular pool or build a minigolf course or something. Kids love mini golf.

  2. It is an eyesore and only in use half of the year. How about a small park with a FREE-TO-USE splash pad for the kiddos? And aomething designed to look like it ACTUALLY belongs in the area and not at Myrtle Beach!?

  3. They were expensive when they used to be open. I got better deals going to kings Dominion. I will not be going to it at all.
