HANOVER, Md. — Toys”R”Us is continuing its successful comeback with a new store right here in Maryland. The store is set to open in Arundel Mills in Hanover this October. The new store is part of the once-dominant toy store chain’s expansion, and is part of the 10 flagship stores and 20 holiday shops planned before the end of 2025.
The store hasn’t yet announced an opening date, but they are currently hiring and plan to open sometime in October. That gives holiday shoppers plenty of time to visit the store from all over the state and sample a bit of nostalgia with their purchase. The new owner, Go Retail Group, says on its website that it’s “excited to bring the magic of Toys”R”Us back to American families.”
And the job description for the Hanover location reads, “We’re not just a toy store anymore — we’re reimagining what retail can be with interactive, immersive experiences that go way beyond the aisle. And we’re looking for passionate, people-loving leaders to help bring this new vision to life!”
Toys”R”Us was a cultural icon for generations of kids and helped usher in the popularity of iconic toys like G.I. Joe and Cabbage Patch Kids. The brand has been featured or mentioned in countless movies and shows and previously maintained a massive flagship store in Times Square.
The brand has been making a comeback since its 2017 bankruptcy filing and has recently opened stores in Chicago; Bloomington, Illinois; San Marcos, Texas; and more, with more locations coming soon. Shoppers can also visit the pop-up stores in Macy’s locations across the country.
It seems like this favorite brand is promising lots of fun (and games) ahead.

Why?
I used to have a Toys R Us store 2 miles away from where I live and it closed. I was so sad. I wonder if there will ever be another one near me. Hanover, MD isn’t close to me and Arundel Mills is not a very good place to go.
No love after they screwed the workers in 2018 and the execs got their million dollar payout! Former corporate employee speaking!!
