SOUTHERN MARYLAND — GameStop wants your weirdest stuff — just leave the dead animals at home. On Dec. 6, the retailer is rolling out its nationwide Trade Anything Day, offering $5 in store credit for almost any item that fits in a box. With GameStop locations across Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties participating, Southern Maryland shoppers won’t have to go far to join the fun.
GameStop said participants may trade in one item per person, and it must fit within a 20x20x20 box provided by the store. All accepted items, no matter what they are, will receive $5 in trade value.
However, there are a number of prohibited items. According to the company’s fine print, GameStop will not accept:
- Dead or live animals (though taxidermy is allowed)
- Hazardous waste
- Weapons
- Drugs, both legal and illegal
- Alcohol or tobacco products
- Sexual or explicit materials
- Items resembling body parts
Store employees may reject any item at their discretion. The full list of restricted items is available at gamestop.com.
Although GameStop hasn’t disclosed how staff will assess unconventional trade items, the company made clear that “Trade Anything Day” is primarily a marketing event, not a traditional trade-in program.
