SOLOMONS ISLAND, Md. – On April 26, 2026, the Southern Maryland Fireman’s Parade will take place on Solomons Island in Solomons.

Motorists should expect substantial vehicular and pedestrian traffic in and around the island. The parade is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM and conclude at approximately 2:00 PM.

Traffic Pattern Details:

• Normal traffic flow will continue on Solomons Island until approximately 12:00 PM.

• At approximately 12:00 PM, ALL access onto Solomons Island as well as access onto MD Rt. 4 on Solomons Island will be closed to vehicular traffic to allow the parade to begin and proceed northbound off the island, beginning in the area of The Tiki Bar.

• Access to the Solomons boat ramp will remain open via the southbound MD Rt. 4 access ramp.

• Once the parade begins:

  • ALL southbound traffic on H.G. Trueman Road in the area of Roy Rogers will be turned around and directed northbound onto MD Rt. 4.
  • ALL traffic exiting from the boat ramp or from beneath the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge will be required to turn left ONLY and proceed northbound off Solomons Island until the parade reaches this intersection. At that time access to MD Rt. 4 will be intermittent.
  • ALL traffic from Lore Rd and car wash/urgent care will be required to turn right ONLY and proceed northbound off Solomons Island. Access to urgent care/car wash can be made via Roy Roger’s entrance.
  • Exit ramp from northbound MD Rt. 4 onto Solomons Island will be closed during the parade.

Motorists are strongly encouraged to arrive early, avoid the area, or plan alternate routes and allow for additional travel time during this event.
