
Perryville, MD โ Maryland State Police have charged an Anne Arundel County man with possession of drugs and a gun after he was stopped on I-95 in Cecil County.
Kahlil Sharif Burnam, 38 years-old, of Crofton, MD was charged with 3 counts of felony possession of a firearm, and one count of felony possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) with intent to distribute. He was also charged with 5 additional misdemeanors relating to the possession of the firearm and CDS.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on July 4, 2018, a Maryland state trooper, assigned to the JFK Highway Barrack, observed Duval not wearing his seatbelt while operating a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, northbound on I-95 in the area of the 98.8 mile marker.ย After stopping the vehicle, the trooper detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.ย A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed over 714 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a .40 caliber Glock handgun with 3 loaded magazines and $344 in US Currency.ย A background check revealed Duval is prohibited from possessing firearms.
After his initial appearance with a court commissioner, Burnam was held in the Cecil County Detention Center on no bond. After a bond hearing the following day, his bond was then set at $10,000 and he was released pending trial after being allowed to post $1000 (10%).
