SUNDERLAND, Md. – Emergency crews responded today, Feb. 22, to a serious motor‑vehicle accident after a large tree fell onto a pickup truck traveling southbound on Solomons Island Road (Route 2) near Aspen Woods Drive.
The incident was reported at 4:40 p.m., with 911 callers stating the tree had “crushed” a truck and that at least one person appeared trapped. A second passerby confirmed the location but was unable to provide additional details due to limited visibility.
Responders were advised of a single‑vehicle incident involving a pickup truck with a large, downed tree creating additional hazards in the roadway.
Extrication efforts, patient conditions, and transport information were not immediately available as crews continued operations at the scene.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
