SOLOMONS, Md. — A 29-year-old man from Lexington Park was arrested after reportedly defying a prior trespass warning and returning to Patuxent Plaza Shopping Center, according to charging documents filed in Calvert County District Court.

Brandon Michael Smith was first encountered by law enforcement around 11:10 a.m. on June 11, when deputies responded to a call from the shopping center regarding a trespasser. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Smith and the property manager, who requested a formal trespass warning be issued, barring Smith from the entire plaza indefinitely. Smith was advised that he was no longer allowed on the premises, including the library and adjacent buildings. Officers documented the encounter and filed the order through official channels.

Approximately four hours later, at 3:16 p.m., deputies responded to a second call from the shopping center. A witness reported that Smith had returned and was seen walking on the sidewalk in front of the library and a vacant storefront. The reporting party confirmed that Smith had not received permission from the property owner or management to be on the premises.

Smith was located shortly after at the Fast Stop convenience store on South Solomons Island Road, adjacent to the plaza. When questioned, Smith acknowledged returning to retrieve personal belongings. He was arrested at the scene and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.

Smith is charged with one count of trespassing on private property, a misdemeanor under Maryland law. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail and a $500 fine.

He was released on his own recognizance following his initial appearance. A trial is scheduled for July 29 in Calvert County District Court.
