LA PLATA, Md. – The Tri-County Animal Shelter is pleased to announce the following April monthly promotions and reminders:

National Dog Bite Prevention Week (Sunday, April 8 to Saturday, April 14)

Did you know children and senior citizens are the most common victims of dog bites? Remind your children to never look a dog directly in the eye, avoid rough housing with dogs, and never to startle a dog. Always supervise your children around dogs, no matter how trusted the dog is.

National Pet Identification Week (Monday, April 15 to Saturday, April 21)

During this special week, the shelter will offer microchips for $10 and pet identification tags for $1. Pets with identification have a higher chance of returning home when they get lost than pets without identification. Keep your pet safe and make sure they have the identification they need.

Adopt a Shelter Pet Days (Friday, April 27; Saturday, April 28; and Monday, April 30)

During these special days, adopt your new furry best friend for a reduced fee of $42.50 for cats and $62.50 for dogs. When you adopt, it not only brightens your pet’s life, but yours as well!
