Calvert County, MD — The Calvert County Department of Public Safety advises citizens that the tropical storm warning issued by the National Weather Service has been extended over the Chesapeake Bay north to North Beach. Wind gusts of 40 mph will be likely along the immediate Chesapeake Bay shoreline from Drum Point to North Beach.

Strongest winds are expected through the afternoon. Wind impacts will begin to recede later this evening. Minor wind impacts could potentially cause power outages, downed trees and other debris.

As a safety precaution, Breezy Point Beach and Flag Ponds Nature Park are being closed to the public today. Staff is informing campers at Breezy Point of the warning and is continuing to monitor conditions to determine whether campsite evacuation will be necessary.
